Lines of Color Highlight My Horizon

(A Sonnet for Three Years)

Sunrise lifts the day upon shoulders high
The dark retreats, on shadowed feet it goes
Two voices rise in song, a splendid cry
First light breaks, illuminating the rose
Melody rises with the newborn dawn
Blushing pink across the face of the sky
Lilting lyrics float soft across the lawn
Warm breezes add the background of a sigh
The day breaks— the world renews a promise
One thousand and ninety five days later
Remembering like it was the first kiss
Reaching to achieve the ever after
Since the sun has come to my perception
Lines of color highlight my horizon
