The Faces of Two People

I watched you slinking off.
Remember: the face of two people
can afford sad stories.
Your eyes can wait until I get there,
and I recognize a strange smell-
it's fear and a sad story, waiting to be told.
Suspended in time, like a bead of water
slowing its roll down the face of an icicle.
Sharp and pointed.
